PRESS RELEASE: No.1
April 2, 2007

Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.
Summary of President's Greeting in Initiation Ceremony of Year 2007

Tadashi Shimokawa, President
In order for SWS Group to win the global corporate competition in the automobile parts industry and solidify a top three position of global market share, it is essential for us to obtain our customers' trust now more than ever.

We have set ‘Speedy, Change, and Better Results' as SWS group's policy. I therefore ask employees to (1) make every effort to increase their operation Speed, (2) positively seek any potential improvements to the current methods, and have the courage to Change them if necessary without fear, and (3) perform daily operations with a firm belief and commitment to achieving Better Results.

I also ask new employees who have entered the company today to always be mindful of ‘Speedy, Change, and Better Results' during your activities. I expect everyone to confront this challenge with innovative ideas and fresh sensitivity, instead of relying on existing frameworks or precedent. So, I would like you to keep the following three points in mind:
1. Be a person to be trusted by other peoplepeople
Business is a team sport, and results are produced through connections with many people, such as your boss at work and senior workers. It is important to establish good human relationships (teamwork), in which you can trust other people and other people can trust you. I ask you to place emphasis on face-to-face dialogue and brush up on your communication skills to suit the time, place, and occasion. Please remember that you cannot produce high-quality products or high-value added output until you become a person that can be trusted.

2. Be a person who can take an active part globally
"Manufacturing relies on developing personnel." Although SWS has already implemented production, development, and sales activities in 30 countries, it is required that all employees become ‘people acceptable by international standards' in the fullest sense. To expand any business operations, whether in Japan or overseas, you must acquire the abilities required as a professional with a global outlook in each particular field, so that you can consider matters from a global perspective. I expect that you, our young personnel, will play an important role as global personnel at the forefront of work sites from the earliest possible opportunity.

3. Always be healthy both mentally and physically
Satisfactory work cannot be done unless you are both mentally and physically healthy. I would like all new employees beginning their working careers to adapt to their new working and living environments and become good Sumitomo employees. I expect you new employees to energize worksites with your bounce and vigor. I also expect that you will take good care of your health to enrich the long lives you have ahead of you.

I greatly hope that you, the fresh force that forms the basis of SWS's future, will acquire the SWS mind and play a wide, active role, both in Japan and abroad. Please enhance your abilities with a spirit of enterprise.
