| Completion of the "Head Office Technical Center"

| Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., under president Tadashi Shimokawa and with its head office in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, started construction of the "Head Office Technical Center" in April last year, as a base of major technical developments for its plants around the world. We are now happy to announce the completion of the center. Next year will mark the 90th anniversary of Sumitomo Wiring Systems. We have established a number of projects to commemorate the anniversary, including reinforcing and expanding the functions of our domestic technical development bases (Toyota, Utsunomiya, Atsugi, Hamamatsu, Osaka, and Hiroshima), as well as establishing the Head Office Technical Center. We are very happy to announce that all of our reinforcement efforts have been thoroughly completed. We will continue striving to develop systems to respond to our customers' needs more accurately and promptly. Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. is striving to realize its policies, including the improvement of service and support activities by expanding and reinforcing development bases close to our customers' locations, the improvement of development systems in close cooperation with our customers, and the reinforcement of assessment and prototype production functions of various kinds. Along with these policies, we have been developing and expanding our technical centers at Toyota, Utsunomiya, Atsugi, Hamamatsu, Osaka, and Hiroshima. (We have expanded our previous total area by about 1.7 times, from 18,170 m2 to 31,300 m2.) Overseas, Sumitomo Wiring Systems has opened 12 development and design bases in 9 countries, including the recent establishment of wiring harness design and development companies in Shanghai, China (July 2005) and Bangkok, Thailand (January 2006). The "Head Office Technical Center" has been completed with the aim of serving as a global center for technical development activities around the world. Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. is continuously advancing the development of systems to more accurately and promptly respond to our customers' needs and to promote active order receiving and development activities around the world. We are doing this by reinforcing the connections among three parties: research, design, and production technology in cooperation with the Production Engineering Development Group, Electrical & Electronics Network System Development Group (wiring harness design), and AutoNetworks Technologies, Ltd. | |||
