| Computer Software Development Base Opened in Dalian City, China

| Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. (Head Office: Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, President: Tadashi Shimokawa) has opened a software development base in Dalian City, China, to further strengthen the IT support of its wiring harness business. The company has already opened software development bases in India, the Philippines, and Shanghai.
The City of Dalian has been developing its software industry through the united efforts of the public and private sectors. One attractive characteristic of Dalian City is there are many IT engineers who are fluent in Japanese. The Dalian Branch of SWS Shanghai, Ltd., with its head office in Shanghai City, China, is an affiliate whose capital is totally owned by SWS. The new software development base, located in Dalian Software Park, opened in May 2005 and celebrated its inauguration in a ceremony on July 22, attended by officials of the Dalian City government. SWS Shanghai, Ltd. supports various businesses in the SWS group of companies located in China. As of August 2005, the group has 19 bases in the area. In the field of software development, SWS Shanghai develops software for SWS group companies in Japan and provides IT support services to SWS group companies in China. The Dalian Branch will take over software development for Japan and will further strengthen the business. The Dalian Branch is aiming to become an independent company in 2006. Sumitomo Wiring Systems is promoting the construction of global information systems and support systems to drive business expansion globally. SWS established Sumitomo Wiring Computer Systems, Ltd., (Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, President: Kiyoshi Shirai), a totally-owned subsidiary, to be a global IT supervising company. To expand IT development, SWS has so far established software development bases in India, with about 120 engineers, the Philippines, employing about 30 engineers, and Shanghai, with about 20 engineers. The opening of the Dalian Branch added about 30 engineers (the number is expected to grow to 60 engineers by 2007) to the company, and Sumitomo Wiring Systems will strengthen the group's IT development under the global software development systems with approximately 500 engineers working at seven bases in four countries, including three bases in Japan.
