Outline of President's Greeting in Initiation Ceremony of Year 2010

Fumikiyo Uchioke, President

After suffering the so-called "once-in-a-century" financial crisis that began in 2008, we at SWS launched a companywide project to thoroughly review our operations, and have promoted improvement of the corporate system where profits can be produced even in an economic recession. As a result of these efforts, as well as an upturn in order received, our business performance has been recovering steadily.
The SWS Group has returned to the level of the growth track before the financial crisis, and we are now all working together to achieve the midterm business plan "12 VISION", which sets a goal to obtain a 25% global share by fiscal 2012. I expect new employees to contribute all of your fresh energy to achieve this goal.
So as you embark on your journey in the workforce, I would ask you to keep the following three points in mind:

1. Be a person to be trusted by other people

Business is a team game, and results are produced through onnections with many people, such as your boss at work and senior workers. It is important to establish good human relationships, where you can trust other people and other people can trust you. Please remember that you cannot produce high-quality products or high-value added output until you become a person to be trusted.

2. Be a person who can take an active part globally

"Manufacturing relies on development of personnel." Although SWS has already been implementing production, development, and sales activities in 30 countries, it is required that all employees become 'people to be accepted by international standards' in its true sense to further expand our business operations. That is, regardless of whether you are in Japan or overseas, you must acquire the abilities required as a professional with a global mind so that you can consider matters from a global perspective. I expect you, our young personnel, will play an important role as global personnel at the forefront of actual work sites from the earliest possible time.

3. Strive for self-improvement by setting the goal

While the business environment surrounding companies has rapidly been changing, it is more important for each of you to acquire the latest knowledge and skills. I would like all new employees to set the high goal and improve yourselves to acquire abilities and skills applicable anywhere. I am convinced that the steady accumulation of efforts made by each of you reinforces the organization, leading to companywide improvement.
I sincerely expect that you always take care of yourself mentally and physically, and will greatly progress as human resources to forge the future of SWS.
