Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., with its head office in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and led by Tadashi Shimokawa, president, plans to establish an automobile wiring harness development and design company in Bangkok, Thailand in December 2005. The new company will strengthen SWS development and design systems for automobile wiring harnesses in the Asian region to meet the expansion of local development by automobile manufacturers in Asia.
This fiscal year, the SWS group has been promoting the "Global 20" program, its mid-term vision (to achieve a 20-percent share of the global market by 2010), and each division is striving to develop systems that will strengthen the competitiveness of the whole group. Among the Global 20 activities, in the product development field, SWS will strengthen the development and design systems in the Asian region as customer automobile manufacturers are expanding local production and development in Asia. The establishment of the new company will serve to identify customers' needs at early stages, construct development and design systems to promptly meet those needs, and further strengthen the SWS order receiving systems.
