Sumitomo Wiring Systems' Wiring Harnesses

Wiring harnesses as a collection of electric wires

Today's cars are using electronics more and more, and the number of electric wires built into a car can reach as high as 3,000.

All of these electric wires and related parts are bundled into wiring harnesses to increase their efficiency and reduce their size for easy installation.

The use of wiring harnesses has contributed to more efficient car-assembly operations while taking up less space in automobiles.

Component parts of wiring harnesses

In addition to the electric wires, wiring harnesses consist of various parts: connectors, electrical-circuit parts (including JBs or junction boxes), protectors and grommets for bundling, shaping, and protecting the electric wires, and clamps for attaching the harnesses to auto bodies.

Sumitomo Wiring Systems consistently designs, develops, and produces wiring harnesses, including the development and production of these component parts.

"Hand-made" wiring harnesses

Many of the processes for manufacturing wiring harnesses depend on manual operations.

Therefore, Sumitomo Wiring Systems considers operator training and development as its most important activity and globally promotes training and development at manufacturing sites worldwide by using "globally common quality" as our slogan.

We have built high-quality and an efficient production structure by incorporating a simulation system (VAS) that allows virtual examinations and verifications of plant layouts and production lines.
