Strengthening Environmental Management

-System establishment to promote our environmental activities effectively on a group-wide basis-

The entire group, across Japan and overseas, strives to create a system for effectively and efficiently developing environmental activities.

Implementation of environmental education

We have introduced education programs according to rank in the organization so that all employees understand environmental preservation activities and reflect these in daily operations. The table below shows the education results in fiscal 2010. Approximately 10,000 employees, almost the same figure as in the past, participated in the education program.

Promotion of environmental audit

The table below shows the results of internal and external audits conducted to check that the environmental management system is used and maintained appropriately according to the ISO14001 requirements. Although there were nine findings in the internal audit and three findings in the external audit in fiscal 2010, the number of findings has decreased year on year. We are constantly striving for appropriate system operation by correcting these findings.

Results of environmental claims, accidents etc

There were no reports of serious violation having a profound effect on society, a group company in Mexico paid the penalty for claims that they failed to submit documents related to water discharge treatment and nitrogen concentration that exceeded the standard.

Strengthening the efforts of the group

To advance the environmental activities of the entire group, we strive to unify our policies and obtain the ISO 14001 certification at all of our bases.
Enhancing environment and management information system

We strive to integrate the information systems of the group in order to evolve our environmental management system and promote environmentally conscious administration.
