"Challenge-Eco 2012" Environmental Action Plan

The Sumitomo Wiring Systems group has defined the "Challenge-Eco 2012" action plan. This plan also covers activities overseas. The group is developing environmental preservation activities based on the plan.

The "Challenge-Eco 2012" action plan consists of four major activities: Strengthening environmental management; Promoting design and development of environmentally conscious products; Realizing clean factories; and Enhancing social contributions and communication. Each of these activities has its own goals for 2012.

By promoting the practice of "Challenge-Eco 2012," we contribute to the environment through our business activities and strive to build a sustainable society.

Energy saving (CO2 reduction)

Japan: 40% less than FY1990 (based on basic unit for sales)

Overseas: 20% less than FY2008 (based on basic unit for sales)

Promotion of logistics efficiency (CO2 reduction)

Japan: 35% less than FY2006 (based on basic unit for sales)

Overseas: improvement of efficiency per unit of sales

Reduction of total volume of waste

Japan: 50% less than FY2005

Overseas: 20% less than FY2008 (based on basic unit for sales)

Control and reduction of substances of concern

Promotion of reduction of controlled substances in the manufacturing process
